# Trezor.io/Start | Secure Your Device

## Getting Started with Trezor

Welcome to your Trezor device! Let's set it up.

### Step 1: Check Your Device

Make sure that your Trezor package includes:

* Trezor Device
* USB Cable
* Recovery Seed Cards
* User Manual

### Step 2: Connect Your Device

1. Connect your Trezor to your computer or smartphone using the USB cable.
2. Visit Trezor.io/start in your web browser.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure your device.

### Step 3: Firmware Update

* Your device will prompt you to install the latest firmware.
* Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the update.

### Step 4: Create or Recover Wallet

* **To create a new wallet**, choose "Create new" and follow the prompts.
* **To recover an existing wallet**, select "Recover wallet" and enter your recovery seed.

### Step 5: Backup Your Device

* Carefully write down the recovery seed on the provided recovery seed cards.
* **Important:** Never share your recovery seed with anyone and keep it in a safe place.

### Step 6: Secure Your Device

* Set a strong PIN to protect your device.
* Optionally, add a passphrase for an extra layer of security.

### Congratulations!

You've successfully set up your Trezor device. Make sure to keep your device and recovery information secure.
